Figure 1 - East coast river crossing |
Turn #26 on the East coast finds the GT ready to cross
the river and take the secondary VP. X/Eng/A Coy straddles the river while the
artillery starts shelling the AT Gun. The auxiliary Marines are advancing on
the left flank in order to block any reinforcements.

Figure 2 - Pontoon bridge |
On turn #27 the Engineers build a pontoon bridge. This illustrates a flaw in 2D Tactical mode: neither pontoon bridges nor destroyed bridges are visible.

Figure 3 - Starting the attack |
The Marines on point move into contact with the survivors of the RT's GMC but do not engage, leaving it for the core units to handle. 1/C Coy crosses the river and attacks the AT Gun forcing it to retreat.

Figure 4 - Enemy artillery strikes |
During the
AI's turn a previously undetected 105mm M2A1 Howitzer announces its presence by
taking a big bite of the Marines next to the RT's GMC.

Figure 5 - Expanding the bridgehead |
By the end of turn #28 only the artilleries haven't
crossed the river. The AT Gun is destroyed, the VP's defenders are isolated and
one more bunker has been spotted. Their destruction is a trivial matter and the
capture of the VP will yield $50.
