After looking at the events concerning the river crossing near the bay we'll now go slightly back in time and examine the operations in the Riverfork area.

Figures 1, 2 and 3 all refer to turn 16 and relate to crossing the river into the Riverfork area itself. During the AI's turn 15 the OPFOR tried to defend the crossing by hitting one of the Green Team's Engineers with two AT units. The towed 37mm M3 AT Gun on the bridge is hit by artillery and by 1/A Coy. Forced to retreat it is then attacked and destroyed by one of the Marine Coys that advances to take its place and uncovers the Infantry garrisoning the town. The other Marine Coy attacks the M3 75mm GMC on the river tile and also forces it to retreat.

Figure 4 follows the events during turn 17. Top row are the before and after positions while the bottom image details the actions. The OPFOR artillery is attacked by an Engineer and a Marine while the other Marine eliminates the AT halftrack. The Infantry garrisoned in the town is bombarded by the Green Team's artillery. A minefield is revealed by some advancing Marines (everyone is safe, they stopped in time).

Turn 18 and Figure 5, the OPFOR's 105mm artillery is wrecked and survives by a whisker. The Infantry in the town is attacked by our Infantry to its South, it will be destroyed in the next turn. A U.S. Recruit moving North across the bridge is hit by the artillery and a Marine. As it retreats into a river tile Cav/B Sqdn moves up and hits it again.

Turn 20 and Figure 6, the Green Team establishes a perimeter around the Primary VP and pauses to repair and regain efficiency. The artillery starts to bombard the VP's garrisoning Infantry. It is doomed.

Turn 22, Figure 7 and the final town in the Riverfork is investigated, a 37mm M3 AT Gun is found garrisoning it with a minefield blocking the railway bridge. VB1 assists with a dive bombing attack, Engineers and Marines assault and take the town. The AT gun will be destroyed in the following turn and the Riverfork area is secured. The Green Team will now cross the river and move South towards the eastern Airfield area taking all villages along the way and destroying all units in its path.
