Order of Battle: World War II, Boot Camp (tutorial), Mission 2: Island Hopping, Part 9

Odds and ends

Figure 1 - Paratrooper Island

X/USMC/C and X/Eng/B Coys (the reinforcements arrived on turn #19) land on Northwest Island on turn #26 and stay on the beach during turn #27 while being supplied by the auxiliary destroyers. This allows them to regain the efficiency spent on landing and also to entrench. The image illustrates two features:

a) combat ships adjacent to shore enable land units to board troopships (the pale blue anchors are the deployment options for the Engineer);

b) Engineers adjacent to land units allow them to entrench faster (on its own the Marines would be at level 3 entrenchment).

Figure 2 - Paratroopers neutralized

The auxiliary destroyers will shell the RT Paratroopers in preparation for the Marines attack and capture of the Airfield VP. This will yield $50.

Figure 3 - Marines disembarking efficiency bonus

X/USMC/C Coy landed on the hilly shore near East Isle City for no other reason other than to illustrate the Marines efficiency bonus when landing.

Figure 4 - Supply Ships in port fudge their numbers

I picked up this tidbit on the Slitherine forum: the tooltip for Supply Ships in port is deceiving. Supply Ships normally provide 20 supply and are supposed to provide double (40) when in port. In fact they only provide 30. The image on the left shows a surplus of 66 supply, 26 from the various towns and 20 each from the ships. In the center, one ship moved away and the surplus drops to 46. On the right, the ship moved into port, the tooltip changed to 40 supply but the surplus is only 56, 26 from the towns and 30 from the ship.

Figure 6 - One more Tutorial Message

The number of tutorial messages dropped dramatically, to the point I was thinking something had gone wrong. The game regularly crashes when I play for a bit over an hour (Unity error message) so I usually stop and restart but sometimes I miscalculate or am otherwise distracted. (Note: this has stopped with version 10, at least for now)
