Order of Battle: World War II, Boot Camp (tutorial), Mission 2: Island Hopping, Part 3

Turns 9-14

L-Day and the first wave has landed, X/Cav/A on Oboe beach Red 1 (revealing the RT's bunker) and 1/B Coy and X/USMC/B Coy on Uncle beach Red 1 and 2 respectively. The two auxiliary DD provide supply to Oboe while one of the Supply Ships does its thing for Uncle. For lack of better things to do, the Navy will take potshots at the bunker just to earn XP. One US Recruits unit will march down the road during the AI's turn but won't reach any of the units on Uncle.

Figure 1 - First wave ashore

In turn #10 the Navy will
shell the bunker and the Recruits while the Army regains the efficiency spent disembarking. The RT Recruits will come into contact with 1/C Coy but won't attack.

In turn #11 X/Cav/A advances towards the road revealing the RT's M1 75mm artillery and clearing Oboe Red 1 for Cav/A Coy.

Figure 2 - Second wave ashore

X/USMC/B Coy moves North to provide flanking support for 1/B Coy which moves left along the beach before attacking the Recruits, forcing them to retreat and advancing to maintain contact. This also reveals the US Recruits entrenched in the village.

The second wave lands on Uncle, Eng/A Coy on Red 1, X/B Coy (Hvy) on Red 2, X/USMC/A on Green 1 and X/Eng/A Coy on Green 2. The second Supply Ship replaces one of the auxiliary DD providing supply to Oboe.

Figure 3 - Expanding the beachhead

On turn #12 the Navy concentrates its fire on the hapless M1 75mm battery while 1/B Coy attacks the Recruits again. X/USMC/B Coy had moved North along the road to provide flanking support and revealed East Isle Ville's defenders: one unit of US Recruits supported by an Anti-Tank Gun, both fully entrenched. The RT's Willys jeep showed up during the AI's turn and is ignored by X/Cav/A.

Figure 4 - Still expanding the beachhead

The image for turn #13, unlike the previous ones, shows the situation at the start of the turn. The RT chose to reinforce the artillery and the damaged Recruits and send the Willys towards Uncle beach. The Navy will mercilessly shell the artillery leaving it back at 5-strength, Eng/A Coy will move around 1/B Coy (who will take reinforcements) to attack the Recruits and advance into the hills they will retreat from (better defensive terrain) and the auxiliaries on the right flank will move to positions from where they will be able to attack the bunker beyond the jungle patch. The units still aboard troop transports will land in the vacated beaches. The outcome of these actions is depicted in the image for turn #14.

Figure 5 - Third and last wave ashore

During turn #14 the Navy shifts its fire to the Recruits in the village. The auxiliaries on the right flank continue to move into positions to attack the bunker while waiting for the artillery to recover the efficiency spent disembarking. In the center Eng/A, 1/B and Cav/A Coys engage the RT's artillery dropping it to 1 HP and forcing it to retreat into the jungle, and destroy the damaged Recruits.
